Burt Reynolds will portray a reclusive mountain man in Paramount's buddy comedy Without a Paddle in a tribute to his breakout role in Deliverance three decades ago. The film, directed by Stephen Brill, will start shooting in New Zealand later this month.
Without a Paddle centers on a camping trip gone bad as three city-dwelling friends - played by Seth Green, Matthew Lillard and Dax Sheppard - undergo a series of misadventures that anger the locals.
Reynolds' role as Lewis Medlock in 1972 thriller Deliverance launched him as a major bigscreen star. The film told the story of an ill-fated canoe trip in deep backwoods America, where the people are as scary as the country is beautiful.
