New Line Cinema has acquired the sci-fi action-comedy pitch Planet Terry by comic creator Rob Liefeld. Liefeld is the co-founder of Image Comics, the third largest publisher after D.C. and Marvel, and founded the X-Force franchise for Marvel Comics.
Planet Terry concerns a middle-aged family man in extraordinary circumstances in the vein of films like Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty.
The project was to be Liefeld's next online comic series, following the sale of his previous online series Shrink!, which Jennifer Lopez is both producing and attached to topline for Columbia Pictures.
Other Liefeld feature projects include The Mark, with Will Smith attached to star, and Galaxy Girl -- both set up at Paramount.
